Insurance and Breastfeeding Help

As a new mom, you are entitled to have some or all of your lactation support home visits reimbursed by your insurance company!

At this time, Happy Milk is enrolled with Aetna Health Insurance as an in-network provider. This means that I have contracted with them in order to provide home visits with no co-pay to you! If you are an Aetna member, I encourage you to contact them to find out specifically what your lactation benefits are, and to give me a call to schedule a home visit.

In addition, thanks to the Affordable Care Act, ALL insurance companies are now required by the law to cover breastfeeding support and supplies. Most of my clients are finding that their insurance companies are reimbursing out-of-network claims partially or even fully. For this reason, it is always worth the effort to call your insurance company to discuss your specific benefits and submit a claim for reimbursement. I give all of my clients a “superbill” with the information they need to make a claim. Also, my services are eligible under Flexible Health Spending accounts.

It’s important for you to find out your benefits and FIGHT FOR THEM! It might be a pain, but we all need to speak up and be heard, and maybe if we do, it’ll make things easier for us and other new moms in the future.
